Having completed studies at Université de Montréal in 1983, Dr. Marcil began her professional career with a one-year, multi-disciplinary residency at Hôpital Notre-Dame. She then travelled to Quebec’s far north for three years of service, providing dental care – in oftentimes difficult circumstances – to Indigenous populations. In 1989, she became clinic coordinator for the Department of Surgery at Université de Montréal, where she helped future dentists develop surgical skills and build their confidence.

In addition to her surgical practice (implants, wisdom teeth, grafts, biopsies, etc.), Dr. Marcil treats TMJ, helping to rehabilitate dentition proactively, sustainably and comfortably.

Continuing education

Always engaged in ongoing education, Dr. Joëlle Marcil completed implant training at Institut canadien d’implantologie in 2003. She has also travelled to many countries – including Germany, Austria, the United States and the Dominican Republic – to perfect her skills with leading world dentistry experts like Drs. Misch, Kois, Allen, Salama, Steigmann, Landry and Slavicek. In 2009, she also completed a Master’s Degree in Dental Science at University of Krems in Austria and is currently a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).

Professional involvement

For more than ten years, Dr. Joëlle Marcil has been actively involved in the dental community as an administrator and as the president (for one year) of Société Dentaire de Montréal and Fédération des Sociétés Dentaires du Grand Montréal. She has also acted as Administrator, Montreal region, for the Association des Chirurgiens Dentistes du Québec (ACDQ).
